Meet Charlene

FROM OAK & STREAM PSYCHOTHERAPY CLINIC

Hi my name is Charlene Lekx and I specialize in helping individuals, couples, and families break generational cycles and begin to heal and thrive.

I help my clients learn that they are worthy of love and belonging. I encourage them to make choices that honour themselves and others, and builds self-compassion and self-respect.

I support my clients on their individual and family journey to understanding themselves at deeper levels, to know and articulate their needs, and begin to set healthy boundaries in their lives. From this place of self-leadership, my clients can begin to gain a better view of what healthy communication and transformational relationships can look and feel like.

If you are someone who is ready to do this kind of work, reach out and we can begin to sow seeds towards growing a positive legacy in your life that has the possibility to last for generations to come.

Therapeutic Collaboration

Here’s the thing, I know quite a bit of information about psychotherapy, but you are the expert of your own life. Together, we can embark on a journey where you can begin to unpack your story in a safe space, and find unique ways to help you heal and grow. You can begin to create a vision for your future that makes you feel a sense of hope, peace, and joy.

My clinical approach is integrative, eclectic, and grounded in both attachment theory and family systems theory. It is rooted in years of graduate study, and even more importantly, lived experience. I bring insight, encouragement, and compassion to this work because I know what it is like to work through real life struggles. You do not have to work through your challenges alone.

I use various theories and modalities like attachment theory, family systems theory, Polyvagal theory, IFS, EFT, Gottman, EMDR, Brainspotting, and CBT, to help people grow in healthy ways and begin forming healthy relationships with themselves and their loved ones. I am a member of the Ontario Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (OAMFT), and serve on their board of directors. Even with all of my schooling and experience, I believe the most important thing I will bring to our sessions is hope. I believe the seeds you sow into your healing today can grow into a healthier you in the future.

My Vision & Mission

I want to see every member of family systems thrive. Here’s the thing though, you can’t change other people, you can only change yourself. That’s why I work with people who are committed to personal growth. The more you learn, grow, and heal in transformative and sustainable ways, the more you’ll see healthier shifts and changes in your family system.

This change doesn’t happen overnight. What I can do is help you learn how to offer yourself and others compassion, process the adverse experiences you’ve had in life, notice the unhelpful thoughts that are limiting you, recognize the coping strategies that may not be working for you anymore, and learn to set healthier boundaries with the people in your life.

I believe in self-leadership and that people can learn to become the hero of their own story. I think it’s awesome when people are committed to learn from their past and want to heal their wounds. I believe people can begin to:

  • Cultivate healthy relationships with themselves and others.
  • Sow seeds to nurture authentically happy, loving families in the present.
  • Grow in gratitude, peace, and joy as they journey towards their future selves.

I support people in doing this transformative work by providing integrative therapeutic solutions mapped out just for them.

Oh, and I believe we can do this worthwhile therapeutic work, while enjoying ourselves and having fun.
