Are you ready for therapy?

Therapy can be super beneficial. However, there are certain things to consider. First, is the fit between you and your therapist. I will share my tips on how to find a good therapist for you in one of my podcast episodes.

In addition to having a therapist who you have a good therapeutic relationship with, you must also think about whether you are ready to engage in therapy at this point. Not certain if you are? Here are a few questions that may help clarify this for you.

Questions to help you clarify whether you are ready for therapy

  • Whose idea was it for me to go to therapy?
  • If someone suggested it, why do they think I need to go to therapy?
  • What do they think I need to do differently?
  • How would my life be different if I shifted these unhelpful thoughts or behaviours?
  • What differences would others see in my life if I shifted these unhelpful thoughts or behaviours?
  • How would my life be different than it is now?
  • How would I know if I have done enough work regarding this challenge in my life?

Readiness to do the therapeutic work is imperative. Each person has to decide whether they are ready to shift their behaviours, let go of their limiting beliefs, challenge thoughts that have been harmful to them, or begin to heal their brains and bodies.
