Pause. Breathe. Hope. Heal.
Dear Reader! To make life easier for you, I wanted to give you this information in a couple different formats. You can either read this blog post, or click the link below to download the podcast and listen to the episode on the go.

Would you like to know a quick way to help you reduce stress, and decrease your feelings of anxiety, and nervousness? What about a way to help you deal with insomnia, or your digestion and gut health? Or help you strengthen your immune system? Well, you can work on all of these issues by resetting your Vagus Nerve.
In our bodies, the Vagus Nerve is the longest nerve of the autonomic nervous system. It connects your brain to organs like your eyes, heart, lungs, and stomach. To work on the issues I mentioned, you need to stimulate your Vagus Nerve, and you can do so with these five simple hacks:
- You can expose yourself to cold temperatures. Splash cold water on your face or hold a cold cloth to the back of your neck.
- Breathe deeply from your diaphragm, and exhale long and slow.
- Sing a song, hum, or gargle.
- Go outside and immerse yourself in nature, and meditate on your chosen mantra, scripture, or your affirmations.
- Interlace your fingers and put your hands behind your head, then move your eyes to the right (the 3 o’clock position on a clock) for ten seconds or more, then look straight ahead to rest your eyes, then move your eyes to the left (the 9 o’clock position on a clock) for ten seconds or more, before resting your eyes by looking straight ahead. Do this exercise as many times as needed.
These hacks can help your nervous system to calm down and relax. Yet, how will you know that it’s working? Well, you will begin to yawn, swallow or sigh. Simply keep doing these activities until you notice these responses.
The great thing is, you can use these hacks anytime you need them. Try and practice doing them when you are calm. However, to get the best benefit, you need to practice these Vagus Nerve hacks often.
